About Hello, Ruiz

Revised June 13, 2011.

Hello Ruiz?

“Hello Ruiz” (formerly ruizwashere) is the name of my personal website and blog. Anything that I want to share with friends, family, and the world is shared through here. I usually share original content such as pictures, videos and reviews, as well as entries that pertain to what is going on in my life. Most of all, I try to keep content interesting for the people who view it. Though this website may be all about me, the people who visit it mean much more. This website is pointless if there aren’t visitors such as yourself looking at my content. I can’t do this without you, and for this, I say thank you. Thank you for visiting and I hope that you will continue to come back in the future!

When, Ruiz?

Hello Ruiz has been here since May 18, 2008. I was still in high school, Windows Vista still plagued computers, and a black president still didn’t exist. A few years have passed and a lot has happened to Hello Ruiz since then.

Why Ruiz?

Why? That’s a really tough question to give a single definite answer to. To be honest, I could give a lot of reasons as to why I created Hello Ruiz. I could have been really bored, but I don’t believe that was the case. Perhaps I was curious to see what I was capable of? Maybe I wanted to make something that couldn’t be made by anyone else I knew? Do you think I could have just made it to show off or be boastful? Could I have just wanted to impress people? It could be all of those reasons, some of them, or none at all. I can tell you one definite thing though: Whatever that reason is, it was a good one that allowed me to further open the doors of communication and creativity. That’s all that matters.

How, Ruiz?

SONY DSC So how exactly did I get here? How did Hello Ruiz exactly come to be? Well to state the obvious, I first had to get some of the technicalities out of the way. Finding a good web host, registering the domain, and taking the time to learn some web coding were very important. But seriously, who cares? All of that is boring to talk about. You’ll surely fall asleep on your keyboard while reading this! What might actually be interesting to you though, is that the idea for Hello Ruiz (or ruizwashere, at the time) stemmed from a simple picture. Well actually, a picture that involves another picture. A picture that’s within a picture while serving as the main focus of the picture that it’s in. Perhaps it wasn’t a simple picture after all. But anyways, it was a picture of my oversized high school prom picture keychain with me working in the background. I edited it just for fun because I love to play around with Photoshop. I titled the picture “ruiz was here”, kind of to show that I was hidden over there in the blurry background? I don’t know. I just felt that it sounded appropriate for the picture.

But do you know what else it sounds appropriate for? A website! Yes that’s right! And the domain name ruizwashere.com (again, at the time) was available! Oh happy day! So then yeah. All of that boring technical stuff that I talked about earlier happened. Then boom. Website.

More about Hello Ruiz?

W-wait what? You actually want to learn more about Hello Ruiz? You sure are a persistent one, aren’t you? Well in any case, I’m glad that you’re interested. Over the years, I have spent many countless and sleepless nights pouring my heart and soul into this website. Every little tweak or change is all done and maintained by me and nobody else. They say that there’s no ‘I’ in team, but there’s one in Ruiz. Considering that I’m not a professional at web design, it’s really hard work and can be very frustrating at times. There’s no way that I could have gotten Hello Ruiz to look as polished and detailed as it does now without having to scratch my head and pound my keyboard in frustration many times. I’ve made a lot of design changes to Hello Ruiz over time, hoping that each change would be better than the last. Don’t believe me? Well then, I will leave you with this for now. It’s a small gallery of all of the previous layouts that I created and used for Hello Ruiz. You can definitely see the layout grow and evolve with each change. If any of them look funny to you, then feel free to laugh! I still laugh at them too. Regardless of if you laugh at how funny they look or not, I still hope that you will enjoy them.

One more thing…

Again, I know that I’ve said this before, but thank you for your support (yes, just simply reading this is supporting me!) and I hope that you’ll continue to visit Hello Ruiz again in the future!
